Jiangmen area(also called Wuyi) is one part of Pearl River Delta, and has close connection with Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau. The journey of Jiangmen people to the world began very early, they migrated overseas through various channels in modern times as coolies or merchants. Today, Wuyi communities exist in many parts of the world, making Wuyi people a significant part of overseas Chinese, and also contributing to Wuyi’s status as an important overseas Chinese hometown in China. The urban development, transportation infrastructure, foreign-related institutions, architecture, temples, and other aspects of this region are closely connected to the outside world, and to the lives of overseas Chinese.
